Welcome to Mazgab Sanctuary. These Terms of Use explain the rules for using the Sanctuary. By creating an account or using the site, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully. If you do not agree, please do not use the Sanctuary.

Who we are

Mazgab Sanctuary is run by Mazgab Press, the publisher of "The Forbidden Ethiopian Bible in Modern English Illustrated," edited by Ezana M. Tekle. In these terms, "we," "us," and "our" mean Mazgab Press. "You" means anyone who uses the Sanctuary.

A free service for readers

The Sanctuary is a free companion site for readers of the book. It offers a reading plan, reflections, a community forum, video lessons, audio, and other study tools. There is no charge to use it.

We work on an honor system. We do not ask for proof that you bought the book. We simply ask that you use the Sanctuary in the spirit it was made: as a reader, a seeker, and a member of a respectful community.

Who can use the Sanctuary

• You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
• If you are under the age of legal adulthood where you live, you should have permission from a parent or guardian.
• You may not use the Sanctuary if we have previously removed or banned your account.

Your account

• You are responsible for your account and for what happens under it.
• Please give us a real email address that you can access.
• Keep your sign-in links and devices secure. Let us know right away if you think someone else has used your account.
• One person, one account. Please do not create accounts for others or share your account.

Your content

"Your content" means anything you add to the Sanctuary, such as forum posts, replies, prayer requests, profile details, highlights, notes, and journal entries.

• You keep ownership. You own your content.
• You give us permission to show it. By posting content in shared areas like the forums, you give Mazgab Press a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and share that content on the Sanctuary, and to make the small technical copies needed to run the service. This license is only for operating and improving the Sanctuary. It ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies other members have already quoted in their own posts and copies kept for a short time in backups.
• Private content stays private. Your highlights, notes, and journal entries are visible only to you. We will not publish them.
• You are responsible for what you post. Please post only content you have the right to share.

Community rules and moderation

All members must follow our Community Guidelines. To keep the Sanctuary a safe and welcoming place, we and our moderators may, at our discretion and without prior notice:

• Edit formatting, hide, or remove any post or content.
• Limit features for an account, such as posting or linking.
• Suspend or permanently ban an account.

We try to be fair and to explain our decisions when we can, but we are not required to host any content or keep any account open.

No affiliation with the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church

Mazgab Press and Mazgab Sanctuary are independent. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or speaking on behalf of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church or any other church or religious body. We honor the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church for preserving these sacred texts, and we welcome readers from every Christian tradition and beyond.

Educational and devotional purpose

The Sanctuary is offered for educational and devotional purposes. The reflections, discussions, and other materials are not professional, legal, medical, mental health, or financial advice. For spiritual direction, please speak with a pastor, priest, or trusted leader in your own tradition. If you are in crisis or facing an emergency, please contact local emergency services right away.

Third-party content

• Videos. Video lessons are embedded from YouTube. Each video belongs to the channel that made it. Featuring a video does not mean we agree with every view it expresses, and the channels are not affiliated with us.
• Audio and files on Google Drive. Content hosted on Google Drive belongs to its owners and is provided through Google's service under Google's terms.
• Links. Links to other websites are provided for convenience. We are not responsible for the content or practices of other sites.

Library texts

The Digital Library may include public domain texts and translations gathered from historical sources. We try to note where each text comes from. These texts are shared for study, and their wording may differ from the translation in the book. If you believe a text is shared in error, please contact us and we will review it promptly.

Our content

The design of the Sanctuary, the reading plan, reflections, and other materials we create belong to Mazgab Press. The book itself is protected by copyright. Please do not copy, scan, or share the book or our materials except as allowed by law or with our written permission.

No warranty

We work hard to keep the Sanctuary helpful and available, but we provide it "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent allowed by law, we make no promises or warranties of any kind, including that the service will always be available, free of errors, or fit for a particular purpose.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Mazgab Press and its team will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of the Sanctuary. Because the Sanctuary is free, our total liability for any claim related to it is limited to fifty US dollars (US $50). Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

Ending your use

You may stop using the Sanctuary and delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or the Community Guidelines, or if we decide to stop offering the Sanctuary. If we close the Sanctuary, we will try to give reasonable notice so you can download your data.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we make important changes, we will let you know on the site or by email before they take effect. If you keep using the Sanctuary after the changes take effect, you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Mazgab Press is registered.
