Community Guidelines

Last updated: October 16, 2026

Mazgab Sanctuary is a place to read, reflect, pray, and grow together. Our members come from many Christian traditions, including Orthodox, Catholic, Protestant, and others, as well as people who are simply curious. These guidelines help keep the Sanctuary warm, safe, and worth returning to. By taking part, you agree to follow them along with our Terms of Use.

Respect across traditions

  • Treat every member with kindness and dignity, even when you disagree.
  • Christians have read and ordered Scripture in different ways for centuries. Share your own tradition with joy, and listen to others with curiosity.
  • Discuss ideas, not people. You may question a teaching, but do not mock, insult, or attack a church, a tradition, or a fellow member.
  • Remember that many members are new to these texts. Be patient with questions.

No harassment or hate

  • Do not harass, bully, threaten, or intimidate anyone.
  • Hate speech is not allowed. This includes attacks based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sex, gender, disability, age, or any similar trait.
  • Do not share another person's private information without their permission.
  • Do not post content that is sexual, graphic, or violent.

No spam or self-promotion

  • Do not post ads, sales pitches, or repeated messages.
  • Do not use the Sanctuary to promote your own business, channel, ministry, or fundraiser unless a moderator has invited you to.
  • Do not post links just to drive traffic to other sites.

Respect copyright

  • Do not share copyrighted books, including scans, photos, or long excerpts of "The Forbidden Ethiopian Bible in Modern English Illustrated."
  • Short quotes for discussion are welcome. Please include the page number so others can follow along in their own copy.
  • Do not share pirated copies or links to them of any book, video, or audio.

Prayer requests

  • The Prayer category is a sacred space. Treat every request with care.
  • What is shared in prayer stays in prayer. Do not repeat or share someone's request outside the Sanctuary.
  • Respond with prayer and encouragement, not argument, correction, or advice that was not asked for.
  • Only share what you are comfortable sharing. Avoid posting other people's private details in your requests.

Stay on topic

  • Post in the category that fits your topic, such as a reading plan day, a video lesson, or general discussion.
  • In a reading plan thread, keep the conversation focused on that day's books and reflection.
  • Moderators may move a thread to a better category.

Links and new accounts

To help protect the community from spam, new accounts cannot post links for their first 3 days. After that, links are welcome when they are helpful and on topic.

How to report a problem

If you see a post that breaks these guidelines, use the Report button on that post. Choose a reason and add a short note if it helps. Reports are private, and the person you report will not be told who reported them. For anything urgent, or if you need to reach us directly, email info@mazgabpress.com.

Please do not argue with someone in public about a rule they broke. Report it and let the moderators handle it.

What moderators may do

Our moderators are here to serve the community. Depending on what happened, they may:

  • Gently remind you of these guidelines.
  • Edit formatting, hide, or remove a post.
  • Lock or move a thread.
  • Limit your ability to post or share links for a time.
  • Suspend or permanently ban an account for serious or repeated problems.

We try to be fair, consistent, and gracious. If you believe a decision was a mistake, you may write to us at info@mazgabpress.com, and we will review it.

Levels and points

As you read, reflect, and take part in the community, you earn points that mark your journey. Points come from things like finishing reading plan days and sharing thoughtful posts. As your points grow, you move through five levels:

  • Seeker
  • Pilgrim
  • Scribe
  • Lamp Bearer
  • Keeper of the Scrolls

Levels are a gentle way to celebrate faithfulness, not a ranking of anyone's worth. Trying to game the system, such as posting empty replies for points, may lead to points being removed.

Thank you

Thank you for helping make the Sanctuary a place where people from every tradition can meet the sacred texts with open hearts and open minds.
